Updated
Before you begin:
- Get your free widget script from AccessiYes. No signup is required.
- New to the embed script? See the JavaScript embed quick start guide for how it works.
- You’ll need a code editor and a way to update the files on your web server, such as FTP or your hosting file manager.
Steps to add the accessibility widget on an HTML website
Step 1: Open your HTML file
Open the page you want to update, such as index.html, in a code editor.
Step 2: Paste your script
Find the closing </head> tag and paste your AccessiYes script directly above it. Repeat this on every page where the widget should appear, or add it once to a shared header file if your site uses one.

Step 3: Save and upload
Save the file and upload it to your web server, replacing the old version.
Step 4: Verify
Open your website in a new browser tab. The accessibility icon should appear in the position you chose when generating your script.

A widget on its own does not make a site fully legally compliant. Treat it as one part of a wider accessibility effort that includes a WCAG-focused review of your template and content.
