6 Steps to add the accessibility widget on Shopify

Step 1: Head to your Shopify admin

From your Shopify dashboard, go to Online Store > Themes.

Step 2: Open your theme code

On your current, published theme, click the “…” menu, then select Edit code.

Step 3: Find theme.liquid

In the file list under Layout, open theme.liquid. This file loads on every page of your storefront.

Step 4: Paste your script

Paste the script you copied from AccessiYes directly above the closing </body> tag, near the bottom of the file.

Step 5: Save and publish

Click Save. Your changes go live immediately since this is your published theme.

Step 6: Verify

Open your storefront in a new browser tab. You should see the accessibility icon in the position you chose when generating your script. Click it to confirm the menu opens.

A widget on its own does not make a store fully legally compliant. It gives visitors real, working adjustments and is one part of a broader accessibility effort alongside a WCAG-focused review of your theme and content.
